HOW IT HAPPENED

The Illini opened the match slow with the Hoosiers owning the 15-10 advantage at the media break. Lily Barry served up an ace during a three-point Illini turn, resulting in a Hoosier timeout with the Orange and Blue trailing 16-13.  Unable to find a rhythm, Illinois burned a timeout down 19-14. The deficit proved to be too much to overcome, with Illinois dropping the opening set, 25-21.

The Fighting Illini asked for a stoppage early in the following frame, trailing 10-9 following a 3-0 scoring run for Indiana. The Illini continued to struggle with the team using its final break of the set down 17-12. Unable to stall the Hoosier offense, the Orange and Blue dropped the set, 25-19.

Indiana kept its momentum from the previous sets, scoring four-straight to take an early 12-8 lead over the Illini. The Orange and Blue chipped away at Indiana’s advantage, with a kill from Bohm knotting the set at 14. However, the Illini deficit grew to three, with Illinois using a timeout trailing 18-15.
