Utah Volleyball Set to Host First & Second Rounds of NCAA Tournament


SALT LAKE CITY – The 17th-ranked Utah Volleyball team has earned its 19th selection into the NCAA Volleyball Tournament and will host first- and second-round matches. The Utes will be making their first trip back to the postseason since 2021, after compiling a 24-5 regular season record with a 14-4 record in their inaugural season in the Big 12, good for third place in the conference.
 
Utah will host the first and second rounds of the tournament at the Jon M. Huntsman Center on Thursday, Dec. 5 and Friday, Dec. 6, welcoming in the College of Charleston, Florida Gulf Coast University and Marquette University. Marquette and Florida Gulf Coast will face off on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. MT, followed by the Utes taking on the College of Charleston at 7:30 p.m. MT (or 30 minutes after the conclusion of match one, but no earlier than 7:30 p.m.). This is the fourth time Utah will host the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament and the first time since 2017.

Utah has been one of the most well-rounded teams in the nation this season, boasting a deep lineup consisting of eight seniors. The Utes have compiled a top-30 attack in the nation, ranking third in the Big 12, posting a .265 hitting percentage. Utah will look to finish this season as the second-best attacking team in the program’s rally-scoring era, trailing only the 2006 Utah team that finished the season at a .281 clip. Coming in at 24th in the nation in assists per set (12.95), the Utes rank third in the Big 12, as Isabelle Marco (5.75) and Grace Hammond (5.07) averaged over five sets each. The Utah offense is fully-loaded with three hitters logging over 200 kills and averaging over 2.0 kills per set. Leading the offensive attack is Kamryn Gibadlo with a team-high 353 kills, averaging 3.43 kills per set. Lauren Jardine (235) and Emrie Satuala (227) add 200+ kills, averaging 2.80 kills for Jardine and 2.29 kills for Satuala.
