CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois Volleyball’s Chris Tamas announced the addition of Kenna Phelan (FEE-len) to the Fighting Illini roster on Friday afternoon.

Notes: Started collegiate career at Florida State, playing two seasons with the Seminoles… Helped the Noles to the NCAA tournament during both seasons at FSU… Named to the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2023… As a sophomore, played in all 31 matches, making 13 starts… Posted 608 assists for a 5.20 assists per set average… Amassed a season-best 33 assists on two separate occasions, against Clemson (Nov. 23) and against Ole Miss (Dec. 5)… Posted over 20 assists in 12 matches, including four matches with 30-plus… Recorded four double-doubles on the season… As a freshman, played in all 118 sets for FSU, adding 601 assists for the Noles… Logged 20 or more assists on 14 occasions during her first Collegiate season, including dishing out a season-best 27 assists against Duke on Oct. 1… Registered three double-doubles during her freshman campaign… Prior to her college career, a five-star recruit by vballrecruiter.com and the Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022… Put together an outstanding senior season, delivering 217 kills, 227 digs and 977 assists… Was a four-time 6A First Team All-State honoree…Earned MaxPreps.com First Team All-America honors…Named an Under Armor High School All-American…Mother Jessica played volleyball at Arkansas while father Darin played tennis for the Razorbacks… Brother, Tyler, currently runs cross country at Northwest Arkansas Community College.
