Soaring Eagles Won’t Be Denied Comeback from 2-1 Deficit to win 3-2

ELMIRA, NY – Kicking off Athletics Alumni Weekend inside Speidel Gymnasium, the Soaring Eagles were victorious in the first of their three weekend matches. EC took down the Wildcats of SUNY Poly in 5 sets.

RECORDS: Elmira (5-0, 0-0 UVC), SUNY POLY (4-5, 0-0 NEVC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After falling behind 2-1 following the third set, the Soaring Eagles locked it down, winning the next two sets and bringing their record to a perfect 5-0 on the year.

Jordan Peiser ’24 picked up 23 kills in the match. Luke Jata ’27 followed with another 17. Paten Buckwalter ’28 continues to build on his strong freshman campaign, he totaled eight kills in the match.

Buckwalter also blocked four attacks, a new career high. Peiser and Max Cohen ’25 also each finished with a block.

Cohen was one assist shy of 50 for the night.

UP NEXT:

EC will continue its quad match tomorrow with back to back games against Grove City and Curry College. Play is set to begin at 11:00 AM.
