PULLMAN, Wash. (October 12, 2023) – Washington State’s Iman Isanovic (Volleyball) and Dean Janikowski (Football) were named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for September, 2023.
Isanovic, a graduate transfer from Arizona State, owns a 4.0 GPA while working towards a master’s degree in political science. The native from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina is the Pac-12 Conference active leader in career kills (1,593) and paces the fourth-ranked Cougars with 3.41 kills-per-set while hitting a career-best .309. Prior to WSU, Isanovic was a three-time All-Pac-12 selection, a 2021 Academic All-American and two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree.
Janikowski posted a 3.46 GPA while earning his bachelor’s degree in digital technology and culture and currently owns a 3.84 GPA while working towards an MBA. The redshirt-junior from Fallbrook, Calif. earned All-Pac-12 first-team honors in 2021 and enters the week 4-of-5 on field goal attempts this season including a career-long of 55 yards, the longest by any kicker in the conference this season. Janikowski enters the week seventh in WSU history with 106 career PAT, tenth with 29 career made field goals and eighth with 193 career points. Janikowski, a three-time Pac-12 Honor Roll honoree, continues to make a huge impact off the field and in the community with his foundation “More than a Kick” where donations are made for each field goal and PAT and the donations go to children and others battling cancer in the Pullman community to honor his mom, Heather who passed away from cancer. Janikowski has also started the Heather Janikowski Foundation and holds events called “Kicking with Cancer” with a goal of raising $30,000 to support the Seattle Children’s Hospital Cancer Research Center.
