OXFORD, Miss. – Alabama volleyball took the opening set over Ole Miss on the road Friday night but dropped the next three as the Rebels earned the 3-1 win over the Crimson Tide.
Trailing 2-1 early in the first set, Alabama (6-11, 0-5 SEC) found its momentum with a 7-0 run to move ahead 8-2 over Ole Miss (6-9, 2-3 SEC). The Tide remained in front until a late push from the Rebels tied it at 23-23 and they reached set point twice before Alabama swung the score back in its favor, winning 27-25. The Tide held the lead for the majority of set two as well until Ole Miss took its first lead of the frame at 18-17. That lead would hold as the Rebels won 25-20 to tie the match at 1-1. A 9-0 run early in set three helped propel Ole Miss to a 25-15 win to take a 2-1 match lead and the Rebels closed out the match with a 25-22 win in the fourth to take the match, 3-1.
Kendyl Reaugh (17) and Alyiah Wells (10) both finished with double-digit kills, as Reaugh extended her streak to seven-straight games with 10+ kills. Emily Janek made her fourth start of the season and earned her fourth double-double, finishing with 34 assists and 10 digs. Abby Marjama stuck three aces in the match, improving her SEC-leading season total to 38.
