ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Empire 8 Athletic Conference along with the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) released its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, with Alberto Mauricio ’26 earning Player of the Week accolades for men’s volleyball in each of the respective conferences.
In two matches this week, Mauricio helped the Soaring Eagles to its best start in program history (7-1), after Elmira earned wins against Misericordia (3-0), as well as the #10 ranked Violets from NYU on Sunday (3-2). Against the Cougars, Mauricio posted 14 kills and six digs, while against NYU, Mauricio posted a career-best 31 kills and a .356 hitting percentage to go along with eight digs. For the week, Mauricio posted a hitting percentage of .288.
This is the second time that Mauricio has collected both Empire 8 and UVC Player of the Week honors this season, after doing so on January 30.
