Mr Ali Ghanem Al-Kuwari, President of the Qatar Volleyball Association and AVC Executive Zonal Vice President representing Western Zone, won the presidency of the West Asia Volleyball Association for a second term 2024-2028 during the WAVA General Assembly at the Chedi Katara Hotel in Doha.
The Saturday’s meeting was chaired by Mr Ali Ghanem Al-Kuwari, the sole candidate for the WAVA Presidency, and attended by guests of honor including FIVB General Director Mr Fabio Azevedo, AVC Secretary General Mr Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai and Mr Hitesh Malhotra from FIVB Technical and Development Department, and other distinguished Members.
As Mr Fabio Azevedo gave an overview of the volleyball and beach volleyball development in the Western Zone in an effort of raising theirs to meet global standards aside from presenting the revolutionary program of Volleyball Empowerment to the WAVA Family, Mr Hitesh shared information on the revolutionary FIVB Empowerment Development Projects, giving the WAVA Members background information on the supporting projects including coaching as well as equipments and knowledge (in the form of instructors, coaches and technical members).
The presentation on FIVB Empowerment Development Projects drastically impressed all participants and saw them make the most of their one-on-one meetings later.
Mr Kiattipong also delivered a speech to all participants, emphasizing on the future development of volleyball and beach volleyball in West Asia.
“On behalf of AVC President Madam Rita Subowo, I am very pleased and honored to be present at the West Asia Volleyball Association General Assembly today. I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere gratitude for your warm welcome and great hospitality. As a result of the excellent organization level of sports and the challenges experienced by some of our members in promoting our beloved sports, the West Asian Zone has become one of the most important zones in the Asian Volleyball Confederation. So, I hope this meeting will help improve our administration and keep our unity and solidarity, as we are one big family,” Mr Kiattipong said in his speech.
“I also hope that we can find some breakthroughs for the future development of volleyball and beach volleyball as one of the most prominent sports in West Asia. I hope to see all of you again at the AVC General Assembly in Bangkok, Thailand. Thank you!”
