Arizona Falls to No. 16 Oregon in Three Sets

EUGENE, Ore. – No. 16 Oregon swept the Wildcats, 19-25, 18-25, 13-25, on Sunday afternoon.
 
Alayna Johnson had eight kills and three blocks to lead Arizona. Sofia Maldonado Diaz had seven kills and three blocks.
 
Oregon won the first set, 25-19. The Wildcats took an early lead on the Ducks, but Oregon came back to hold the lead the rest of the set. Zyonna Fellows led Arizona with four kills and a .667 hitting percentage, but Oregon’s defense had four blocks to hold Arizona at bay.
 
The Ducks took the second set, 25-18. In a back-and-forth set with four lead changes, Johnson led the Cats to a 13-11 lead with four kills, but Arizona couldn’t hold the lead. Oregon pulled away to go on a 5-0 run to end the set.  
 
Oregon completed the sweep with a 25-13 win in the third set. The Ducks made a 5-0 run to open the set and Arizona was never able to come back.
 
The Wildcats will return home for a two-week homestand to host USC and UCLA on October 7 and 9 before welcoming Stanford and California on October 14 and 16.
