SEATTLE, Wash. – The Wildcats lost to Washington (25-21, 18-25, 21-25, 22-25) on Wednesday afternoon in Seattle.
Jaelyn Hodge led Arizona with 14 kills and Sofia Maldonado Diaz had 11 kills. Sophomore Ana Heath surpassed 1,000 season assists with 31 assists against the Huskies.
Arizona won the opening set, 25-21. The Wildcats hit .312 in the set with Hodge leading the way with five kills and a .417 clip. Maldonado Diaz tallied three kills and Jordan Wilson had two kills. Arizona took the lead early in the set and held it to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Wildcats fell, 18-25, in Set 2. The Huskies held Arizona to a .233 hitting percentage and zero aces. Washington came out strong to begin the set and Arizona only tied the set once. Nicole Briggs had four kills while Alayna Johnson and Wilson had three kills each.
Washington won Set 3, 21-25. The Wildcats’ defense totaled four blocks, but the offense only hit .152. Despite Arizona out-blocking Washington and 10 tie scores in the set, the Huskies totaled two aces and a .167 hitting percentage to edge out the Wildcats.
Arizona lost the fourth set, 22-25, to lose the match. The Cats had a five-point lead halfway through the set, but Washington stormed back to win the set. Maldonado Diaz tallied five kills and hit .308 to lead Arizona. Hodge totaled three kills and Briggs had two kills. Heath served two aces and…
