Manama, Bahrain, August 2, 2024 – Australia and Hong Kong, China emerged triumphant in Pool G on Friday in the 15th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship at the Isa Sport City Hall C here.
The Australians impressed in a 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 17-25, 25-15) triumph over the Philippines, while Hong Kong, China defeated Lebanon, also in four sets, 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-21).
Sionetupou Veamatahau had 20 points to spearhead the Australians in their game. Dan Moisescu added 16. For the Filipinos, Roderick Medino had 16 points, while Luke Anton Carl Macatangay chipped in 13 in the loss.
Ching Kin Ko had 20 points as the leading scorer for Hong Kong, China, while Pak Kwan Wan chipped in 16. Serge Shehab scored 16 points on the Lebanon’s loss.
Hong Kong, China posted their only win in this consolation stage with the result, while the Lebanese were handed their third straight loss.
Australia and the Philippines will next be playing in the 9th to 12th classification bracket for their final ranking in the tournament on Saturday and Sunday, while Hong Kong, China and Lebanon headed into the 13th-16th bracket.
