AVC FUTURE VOLLEYBALL EVENTS MEETING CONVENED IN PORTO TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF VOLLEYBALL IN ASIA

Porto, Portugal, November 16, 2024 – As global Volleyball Family gathered in Porto for the 39th FIVB World Congress between November 15 and 17, AVC Delegates assembled in Brangaca Room at Crowne Plaza Porto Hotel on Friday to discuss the AVC Future Volleyball Events.

The trilateral meeting among FIVB, Volleyball World and AVC was held to discuss the future of AVC events and collaboration in terms of hosting the AVC competitions in 2025 and the near future.

AVC President Mr Ramon Suzara, Chairman of Volleyball World Mr Fernando Lima and CEO of Volleyball World Mr Finn Taylor jointly chaired the meeting, also attended by Chief Business Officer at Volleyball World Mr Guido Betti, FIVB Director for Asia and Oceania Mr Luis Alexandre and FIVB Head of Volleyball Events Mrs Alise Kessler.

AVC Secretary General Mr Hugh Gramham, AVC Executive Director Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, AVC BA Members Mr Kylychbek Sarbaghyshev, Mr Terry Sasser and AVC Treasurer Mrs Marina Tsui as well as representatives from China Volleyball Association (CVA), Korea Volleyball Association (KVA), Japan Volleyball Association (JVA), Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO), Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA), Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) and Japan’s SV. League were also present in the collaborative meeting.

Apart from exchanging points of view and discussing the new era of volleyball in Asia, the meeting was also held to consider elevation of the staging volleyball in the region and conducting a feasibility study of introduction of groundbreaking 2025 tournaments, under the driving force for innovation, progress and opportunity, to meet world standard. Thus, volleyball will become more internationally-organized sporting event, enjoy immense popularity and success, regionally and globally, 

Despite the fact that volleyball in Asia is likely to reach new chapter from next year, awareness, consideration and decision on this relevant matter are still under collaborative discussion.

AVC President Ramon Suzara has purposed that regarding the host city and host nation, the efficient and convenient public transportation be the top priority to thoroughly consider.
