Babcock Named finalist for AVCA Division I Player of the Year Award


Charlotte, N.C. (theACC.com) – Pitt right-side hitter Olivia Babcock has been named a finalist for the 2024 AVCA Division I Player of the Year award.

The Los Angeles, California, native helped lead the Panthers to their ninth straight NCAA Volleyball Championship appearance, fifth straight regional final and fourth straight national semifinal. Babcock finished the regular season with 436 kills, 4.54 kills per set, 169 digs, 114 total blocks and 66 aces.

Babcock was named the Pittsburgh Regional Most Valuable Player on Saturday, December 14, after helping the Panthers clinch a spot in the national semifinals. In the Pittsburgh Regional, Babcock recorded 44 kills, including a career-high 31 kills against Oregon on Thursday, December 12. She also added 19 digs and six total blocks in the win over the Ducks.

2024 ACC Volleyball Player of the Year and First-Team All-ACC selection will join her teammates in a fight for a spot in the national championship title game onThursday, December 19, as the Panthers take on ACC foe Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

The 2024 AVCA Division I Player of the Year, presented by Nike Volleyball, will be named on Friday, December 20, in Louisville, Kentucky, during the 2024 AVCA Convention.
