Back Home Thursday vs Corban


EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon beach volleyball team hosts Corban Thursday afternoon at Amazon Park. First serve of the midweek matinee is set for 2 p.m. All home matches are free to attend and fans are encouraged to bring beach chairs to sit around the courts.
 
Last Time Out
The Ducks spent the past three weekends on the road, capping the travel log at the SJSU Tournament where the team was 1-3 overall. During the five-team round robin, Oregon posted a 4-1 win over San Francisco with a 3-2 setback to host San Jose State and 4-1 losses to Boise State and CSU Bakersfield.

Holding down the No. 2 spot in the UO lineup, sophomore Ella Tyus and senior Bea Wetton were 4-0 without dropping a set during last weekend’s SJSU Tournament. The duo is 10-6 this season.

Stepping Up
The team of freshman Natasha George and junior Ashley Schroeder are second on the team with eight wins this season. After playing the first 13 matches at the No. 4 spot, George and Schroeder have been in the No. 3 spot the last five matches and responded with a 3-2 record.
 
The Opponent: Corban
Corban, the No. 1 team in NAIA rankings, enters Thursday’s match with a 14-2 record including a nine-match winning streak. The Warriors’ streak features seven 5-0 sweeps and a pair of 3-2 victories over Portland. Megan Dennis and Avari Ridgway were recently named NAIA National Pair of the Week, and carry a 15-1 record as Corban’s No. 1 duo.
 
What’s Next?
The Ducks travel to Idaho next weekend for the Boise Classic (March 31-April 1) with matches against Arizona Christian, Pac-12 foe Utah and host Boise State. Oregon’s next home match will be the team’s Senior Day, scheduled for April 20 against Portland. Click HERE for the full 2023 schedule
