Badgers extend win streak to 13 matches

MADISON, Wis. – A dominant performance behind the service line led the third-ranked Wisconsin volleyball team to a 25-13, 25-12, 25-12 sweep over Rutgers on Friday night in the UW Field House.

 

Wisconsin (20-3, 14-1 B1G) outscored the Scarlet Knights (8-19, 2-13) 10-0 from the service line behind three aces from Julia Orzol. Izzy Ashburn, Sarah Franklin and Gulce Guctekin all contributed two service aces apiece. UW also had only one service error in the match and didn’t give up a service ace for the first time this season.

The Badgers’ domination continued on offense as redshirt sophomore Sarah Franklin and grad Danielle Hart combined for 19 of UW’s 37 kills in the match. Franklin led all hitters with 11 kills followed by Hart who hit a perfect 1.000, putting away eight kills on eight attempts with no errors.

 

As a team, UW had its best hitting performance of the Big Ten season at .414 (37-8-70) while holding Rutgers to .134 (28-17-82).  The Scarlet Knights were led by Taylor Humphrey and Tina Grkovic with eight kills apiece.

 

Izzy Ashburn led Wisconsin in assists, recording 17 helpers while MJ Hammill added with 11 assists. 

 

The Badgers out-blocked Rutgers 6.0-5.0 with Hart leading the Badgers with four stuffs followed by Devyn Robinson with three blocks.
