Riffa, Bahrain, November 11, 2024 – Bahrain stamped their domination over the 23rd Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship, which was concluded on Sunday at Issa bin Rashid Hall in Riffa, with AVC President Ramon Suzara presiding over the awards presentation and closing ceremony.
With an outstanding performance, hosts Bahrain triumphed in a dramatic 3-1 (25-17, 25-18, 21-25, 25-16) battle against Qatar in the much-anticipated final showdown on Sunday to capture the title for third time in history.
Since the tournament inception in 1977 in Kuwait, Bahrain had claimed the eventual title in 1992 in Syria, and 2008 and 2004 on home soil. Tunisia ruled the roost with eight titles at the Arab Championship.
Dr Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar, Chief Executive Officer of the General Sport Authority, and H.H. Sheikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain and Arab Volleyball Associations, and the AVC President jointly presented the Champions’ Trophy and gold medals to the eventual winners Bahrain.
Mr Feras Al-Halwachi, Secretary General of the Bahrain and Arab Volleyball Associations, and Mr Jihad Qtaishat, Vice President of the Jordan Volleyball Federation, presented Qatar with silver medals, while Feras Al-Halwachi, Mr Mohammed Al-Thawadi, Vice President of Bahrain Volleyball Association, and Mr Khaled Abdullah, President of the Control Committee, jointly awarded third place Tunisia with bronze medals.
In this auspicious occasion, the AVC President presented the AVC Plaque to Mr Feras Al-Halwachi for appreciation and recognition for the BVA’s continued support to the volleyball governing body.
The BVA Secretary General also presented the AVC President with Appreciation Plaque in return for the AVC’s full support to all volleyball-related activities of the BVA.
