CLEMSON, S.C. – Redshirt freshman Jacyn Bamis was named this week’s ACC Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. The honor comes after Bamis recorded 18 blocks (five solo, 13 assisted) with no errors and 17 kills to help the Tigers defeat in-state rival South Carolina for the first time since 2014.
In the Palmetto Series match on Tuesday, Bamis tallied a team season-high 11 blocks to shutout the Gamecocks at the net, while also contributing four kills in the Tigers first win in Jervey Gym against South Carolina since 2013. Her 11 blocks sits second on Clemson’s Freshman Single-Match Records, while her 31 blocks this season leads the team.
Over the weekend, the Spokane, Wash. Native clocked an additional seven blocks and 13 kills through three additional matches. She started in all four matches last week and maintained 1.38 blocks per set and 1.31 kills per set. She finished the four matches with 28.5 points.
This is the Tigers’ first Freshman of the Week honor since Camryn Hannah earned three during the spring campaign in 2021. This is the 26th ACC Rookie/Freshman of the Week honor that the Clemson volleyball program has earned, and Bamis becomes the 14th Clemson volleyball player to earn the honor.
