Battle Won in Seattle – Stanford University Athletics

SEATTLE – In a complete team effort, No. 8 Stanford battled back to defeat No. 19 Washington, 25-18, 19-25, 23-25, 25-18, 15-5, Sunday, at Alaska Airlines Arena.

Stanford (16-4, 11-1 Pac-12) left no doubt in the decisive fifth set, hitting .467 and holding the Huskies without a kill. The Cardinal hit over .400 in all three sets it won on Sunday.

The Cardinal’s pin hitters each reached the 20-kill mark against the Huskies. Freshman Elia Rubin had a match-high 21 kills, while senior Kendall Kipp and redshirt junior Caitie Baird had 20 apiece.

 



For the match, Stanford hit .333 and racked up 13.5 blocks, 62 digs and six aces. Washington posted a .250 attack percentage and had 7.0 blocks, 57 digs and two aces.

Baird’s season-high 20 kills came on .370 hitting and had 12 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. The outside hitter also registered a season-high five blocks. She found her stride at the service line in the fifth set, reeling off seven straight including a pair of aces.

 



Kipp hit .349 and had five digs and three blocks for the match. The Newport Beach native recorded four kills and a block in the fifth…
