PITTBURGH – Incoming freshman Blaire Bayless and Olivia Babcock helped lead USA Volleyball to a dominating performance at the U19 Pan American Cup last week in Puerto Rico. Bayless, an outside hitter, was named Most Valuable Player of the event as the U.S. team went 5-0 overall, sweeping all five matches.
In Sunday’s championship match, the U.S. defeated Mexico (25-8, 25-18, 25-18) as Bayless tallied 10 points on seven kills, two aces and a block. Babcock added eight points on eight kills as all 12 players saw action in the final match.
Bayless tallied 34 points for Team USA with 22 kills, nine aces, and three blocks, while Babcock added 23 points on 19 kills, three aces, and a block.
