Beach paravolley returns to Bibione beach volley marathon > World ParaVolleyWorld ParaVolley

ParaVolley Europe (PVE) has partnered for the second year running with Beach Volley Marathon to feature beach paravolley in its 2023 competition programme. The 28th edition of the event will be held at the splendid Bibione beach in Italy from May 12 to 14.

After its exciting debut last year, beach paravolley returns to Bibione with a great splash of promotion at the Beach Volley Marathon featuring two distinct categories of standing and sitting, including a 3×3 beach sitting volleyball tournament open for athletes with disabilities and other Beach Volley Marathon competitors playing alongside each other with the primary of inclusivity.

“Here on the coast last year, we found an exceptional mindset and a resort that is seriously committed to inclusion. It’s exciting to be back together at the AeQuilibrium Beach Volley Marathon, where everyone will be able to see how sitting volleyball puts athletes with and without disabilities on the same level. It’ll be an unforgettable event,” ParaVolley Europe President Branko Mihorko said.

A total of 300 courts will be set up across a 120,000-square-metre area. Past and present champions will be among those competing and taking on challenges in six different categories, including the Women’s 2×2, Men’s 2×2, Mixed 2×2, Women’s 3×3, Men’s 3×3 and Mixed 4×4.

Bibione provides many groundbreaking initiatives such as becoming the first accessible tourist destination in Italy.

“We offer a warm welcome to everyone as part of our all-embracing hospitality culture, so making an outstanding sporting event like the AeQuilibrium Beach Volley Marathon even more inclusive is an amazing achievement. Let’s hope it sets a trend for lots of other resorts to follow,” said Giuliana Basso, Bibione Live tourism promotion association president.
