BEACH VOLLEYBALL SET TO FACE FIVE RANKED OPPONENTS THIS WEEKEND

Tallahassee, Fla. – The fourth-ranked Florida State Seminoles (12-1) head to Gulf Shores, Alabama this weekend for UAB’s March to May tournament. The Seminoles will face five top-20 ranked opponents including No. 19 Tulane, No. 3 UCLA, No. 6 LSU, No. 18 South Carolina, and No. 10 Georgia State.

FSU’s first match will be on Friday, March 17 at 12:00 p.m. EDT against No. 19 Tulane. Florida State leads the series 15-0 against Tulane. The teams met last year in the same location resulting in a 5-0 win for the Seminoles. Tulane is currently 10-1 on the season and is on a 10-game winning streak that include upsets of No. 12 Stetson and No. 19 South Carolina at the Carolina Challenge last weekend which propelled them into the top-20 for the first time this season.

The Seminoles second match on Friday is against No 3. UCLA at 6:00 pm. UCLA has the edge in the series 12-8. The teams met twice in the 2022 season, with UCLA winning in the regular season and the Noles getting a 3-2 win in the semifinals in the NCAA Championships. UCLA has earned their No. 3 ranking with a 13-1 record to start the season and are coming off an undefeated weekend where they took down three ranked teams without dropping a dual point.

Saturday will kick off with a conference match against No 6. LSU at 11:00 a.m. FSU is 18-2 all-time against LSU. The conference foes met five times last season, two coming in the CCSA Championships, and once in the NCAA Championships. The Seminoles won all three matches. The Tigers are riding an 11-2 record coming into the weekend with their only losses being to No. 1 TCU at the Horned Frog Challenge last weekend.

The Seminoles will continue play at 4:00 p.m. Saturday with another conference match against No. 20 South Carolina (8-5). This will be the second time this season that the teams are meeting. Florida State defeated South Carolina 4-1 on February 26, improving their series lead to 20-0. South Carolina went 3-1 at the Carolina Challenge last weekend losing only to No. 19 Tulane.

The Seminoles will close out the action on Sunday March 19, at 10:00 a.m. taking on No. 10 Georgia State. The two teams met March 8 with the Noles coming out on top with a 5-0 win, which brings the all-time record to 15-1 in favor of the Seminoles. The Sandy Panthers sit at 8-3 on the year after going 2-1 at the Day of Duals, with a notable win against former No. 20, Coastal Carolina.
