Cal’s Lone Senior Leads Team In Blocks Wednesday

BERKELEY – California volleyball (7-22, 0-19 Pac-12) hosted No. 10 Oregon (22-5, 16-3) at Haas Pavilion on Wednesday afternoon, hoping to give the Ducks a serious fight after posting five straight five-set matches; ultimately, however, the 10th-ranked visitors utilized a furious offensive attack to triumph over the Bears, 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-17).

Cal celebrated the career of opposite hitter Sydney Lilomaiava for Senior Day and also recognized Oregon seniors Brooke Nuneviller, Gloria Mutiri and Karson Bacon. It was Lilomaiava who was the Bears’ defensive standout of the match, posting a total of three blocks to lead the team.

Junior Tara DeSa paced all players with 12 digs while classmate Lydia Grote led Cal with 12 kills, surpassing 400 on the season.
