LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lewis University women’s volleyball players Bella Ray (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic) and Juliana Van Loo (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs) earned All-Midwest Region awards announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). AVCA All-American honors will be announced Wednesday (Nov. 30).
Ray saw action in all 31 matches while leading the teams in kills (361), hitting percentage (.288) and total blocks (155). Ray was also named All-Great Lakes Valley Conference First Team and won GLVC Player of the Week honors three times, including two for defense and one for offense.
Ray became one of five volleyball players to win offensive and defensive player of the week in the same year.
Van Loo saw the court in 29 matches for the Flyers this season. The junior was third on the team in kills (324), second in hitting percentage (.284) and fourth in blocks (63), which led her to All-GLVC First Team honors.
