Big Ten Media Day Attendees Announced

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced the attendees for its 2024 Volleyball Media Days, which will take place Aug. 5-6 at the Big Ten Network studios in Chicago.

Fighting Illini head coach Chris Tamas will be joined by Raina Terry and Caroline Barnes at the annual event. Terry will be representing Illinois volleyball for a second straight season, while Barnes will be making her first appearance.

A two-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Northeast All-Region selection and a two-time All-Big Ten First Team honoree, Terry sits 10th all-time with 1,634 career kills. The Marengo, Ohio, native is currently placed between AVCA All-America honorable mention Megan Cooney and 2020 Olympic gold medalist Michelle Bartsch-Hackley in the Illini history books. Terry is also fourth all-time with 164 career aces. In 2023, she was the only player in the Big Ten with over 1,500 kills and 150 aces and was the first Big Ten player to log over 500 kills for the season. Terry announced on her Senior Day that she would be returning for her final year of eligibility in 2024.

Barnes enters her senior season after donning the libero jersey the last two years. The Naperville, Ill., native owns 883 career digs for a 2.64 digs-per-set average at Illinois during her time in Champaign-Urbana. Barnes has posted 20-plus digs in seven matches, with four of those feats taking place last year. Stellar on the court and in the classroom, Barnes has earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District distinctions the last two years.

Nine Big Ten Conference volleyball programs (Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State, Rutgers and Wisconsin) will arrive at the Big Ten Network studios on Monday, Aug. 5, for a series of interview sessions and other creative content opportunities to preview the 2024 volleyball season. The remaining nine Big Ten Conference programs (Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oregon, Purdue, UCLA, USC and Washington) will go through a similar schedule on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
