Johns Hopkins’ Simone Bliss has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III National Player of the Week. She is the first Hopkins player in volleyball program history to be named the National Player of the Week.
Bliss posted double-doubles in all three contests to lead Johns Hopkins to a 3-0 opening week that included victories over St. John Fisher, No. 12 Juniata, and Ithaca. Bliss averaged 4.50 kills, 3.80 digs, and 4.8 points per set while hitting .254% and also contributing three service aces in the trio of victories, extending the Blue Jays’ winning streak to 38 matches.
