DURHAM – The 2023 Duke volleyball team kicked off the program’s 53rd season Tuesday ahead of the anticipated fall season.
Entering her 25th year at the helm of the program, head coach Jolene Nagel returns 12 letterwinners from this past season’s squad, including first team All-ACC honoree Gracie Johnson and All-ACC Freshman Team selection Kerry Keefe, in addition to five newcomers. During her Duke tenure, Nagel has led the Blue Devils to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances and 14 seasons with 20 or more victories.

In addition to the three freshmen, Duke welcomes two graduate students in Jess Robinson (Michigan) and Emma Worthington (Cornell).
As well as some new faces, the offseason saw the return of 2021 graduate Mackenzie Cole to the coaching staff as assistant coach/director of operations.
The Blue Devils concluded the 2022 season 16-13 overall and 7-11 in ACC competition.
Duke will travel to Davidson, N.C., for an exhibition match Saturday, Aug. 19 before kicking off the season Aug. 25-27 at Purdue’s Reamer Club Xtra Special Premier in West Lafayette, Ind.
The full television schedule will be released later this month by the ACC and ESPN. Every Duke home game will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks – ACC Network or ACC Network Extra.
