HUNTINGDON, Pa.– The Elizabethtown men’s volleyball dropped a CVC match at no.8 Juniata, Wednesday evening but didn’t go down without a fight as they fell, 3-1.
Elizabethtown started off set one strong tying up the set early at 7-7 after Alex Finch kills. Juniata pulled ahead, 13-9 after recording four straight. Nick Chapman and Finch added kills to come back within two of the Eagles. Cody Boyer smacked down a kill followed by an Eagle error to keep the Blue Jays within two at 19-17. Juniata would rattle off three straight which would ultimately seal their 25-20 win over Etown.
Etown again kept the set close early as they led, 7-4 after kills from Chapman and Finch. Boyer and Finch contributed kills to keep the team in the lead, 13-12. Through the end of the set the two teams traded points. Juniata took a 25-24 lead before the Blue Jays would win, 27-25 after kills from Finch, Logan Smith and a Nate Seeger ace.
Juniata jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the third set as they recorded four straight. Chapman and Smith tallied kills keeping Etown within distance of Juniata. The Eagles tallied four consecutive points before Elizabethtown added four of their own. Etown continued to trail 20-14 and after trading points to end the set, Juniata won 25-16.
The Eagles again had momentum going into the fourth set as they led Etown, 6-3. Chapman and Finch brought Etown within two before the Eagles jumped to a 14-8 lead. A kill and an Eagle ace extended their lead, 17-10. Chapman tallied a kill and an ace before Juniata rattled off five straight to win,…
