Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany scored their respective fourth victories on Wednesday in the 2023 Sitting Volleyball Men’s European Championship, keeping their records clean in group play.
The Bosnians showed their dominance over Croatia with a 3-0 (25-17 25-19 25-23) win, keeping their undefeated record and breaking the unbeaten run of their opponents to lead in Group A. Four players scored in double digits for Bosnia, with Mirzet Duran and Safet Alibasic outscoring Croatia’s Edvin Zdionica and Ivan Cosic.
After suffering an opening day loss to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland regained their momentum in the competition with back-to-back wins to place third in the rankings.
Hosts Italy had split results on the third day, losing to Poland in the morning and escaping a 3-2 (25-11, 25-20, 24-26, 23-25, 15-13) thriller with Slovenia to occupy fourth place. Lithuania and Slovenia are winless so far.
The Germans took solo leadership in Group B after prevailing in the closely contested encounter with the Ukrainians 3-2 (21-25, 26-24, 25-21, 26-28, 19-17). Dominik Albrecht led all scorers with 31 markers.
Serbia and Latvia are tied with two wins and two losses. Both teams beat Türkiye on Wednesday, and Serbia added another win in the evening against Hungary, which are in fifth place with one win and three losses. Türkiye are in sixth with four straight losses.
