Bosnia and Herzegovina completed a golden hat trick at the Golden nations League, following their 3-1 (19-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-8) win over Ukraine in the final on Sunday in Balikesir, Turkey.
The Bosnian team started off slowly, dropping the first set at 25-19, but recovered in the next three frames on an upward trend that finally secured the gold medal match for good.
The Bosnians has dominated the tournament since its maiden edition in 2021, when they went on an undfeated run in Assen, Netherlands. The following year, they beat Croatia when they hosted the event in Sarajevo. Their victory in Turkey proved their dominance in the competition with their third straight title victory.
In the bronze medal match, Croatia overcame a 2-1 set deficit and a thrilling tiebreaker to beat hosts Türkiye 3-2 (25-18, 21-25, 15-25, 25-9, 16-14).
Last year’s silver medallists Croatia endured the challenge of the hosts led by captain Mehmet Yilmaz, who scored 30 points in the match. The Croatians delivered a powerful performance in the fourth to force the decider and seal victory with the slim two-point margin.
