Bragg and Ieremia Repeat as CL Players of the Week

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League revealed yet another installment of weekly awards on Monday, and, after sweeping the awards last time around, the No. 19 Taylor volleyball team (15-3, 4-0 CL) brought home another two awards this week.

Each for the third time this season, and the second time in as many weeks, Kacy Bragg and Grace Ieremia received the Crossroads League weekly honors, Bragg as the Setter of the Week and Ieremia as the Defender of the Week.

Bragg picked up her latest award in recognition of a stellar 12.0 assists-per-set average throughout TU’s 3-0 week. To kickstart the week, Bragg notched 40 assists in Taylor’s three-set sweep of Spring Arbor, hitting the 40-or-more mark for the ninth time this season.

Taylor’s stud setter now ranks seventh in the nation with a 10.72 assist-per-set mark on the season. Meanwhile, Bragg now boasts 3,437-career assists, just five away from surpassing Haley Harrell for seventh all-time in program history.

In addition to the assists, Bragg also posted four-or-more blocks in Taylor’s final two wins of the week. Trojan middle hitter, Grace Ieremia, stole the show in that way however, as she also posted four-or-more blocks in two of Taylor’s match-wins, yet she also managed to send back a shocking nine blocks against RV Mount Vernon Nazarene.

Ieremia, who also belted nine total blocks in Taylor’s win against St. Thomas on August 26, averaged 1.9 blocks-per-set throughout TU’s latest week of winning. The West Florida transfer now ranks second in the Crossroads League with a season-average of 1.22 blocks-per-set, a mark that sits 16th in the entire nation.

With these two awards in stow, Taylor volleyball now boasts eight CL weekly awards on the season, while Taylor athletes have a combined total of 13.

No. 19 Taylor (15-3, 4-0 CL) will look to continue in its winning ways on Wednesday, September 21, when the Trojans travel to Saint Francis (9-7, 3-1 CL) for a 7:00 pm matchup with the Cougars.
