The 500-day countdown to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games has begun. The Brazilian women’s team, along with the Iranian men’s team, have secured their spots through the 2022 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CBVD) recently announced its plan to win between 70 and 90 medals and remain in the top 8 at Paris 2024. In Tokyo 2020, Brazil closed the competition in seventh place with 72 medals, including the bronze medal of the women’s team, while the men’s team finished fourth.
CBVD is once again counting on the strong performances of their men’s and women’s teams to achieve their plans in the upcoming Paralympics.
With the Paris 2024 spot locked in for the women’s team, the Sarajevo 2022 bronze medallist men’s team are still seeking to earn their spot. Both teams will be competing at the ParaVolley Pan America Zonal Championships next month in Edmonton, Canada, where the women’s team are seeking to win the title, while the men go for the title and the Paris 2024 berth.
