Brazil recorded their second win, following their triumph over Canada 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-21) at the 2024 WPV Women’s Super 6, held at Parc des Sports de Vandoeuvre in Nancy, France on Friday.

Canada started strong, taking an early lead in the first set with a quick 2-0 advantage. Danielle Ellis’ powerful serves pushed the score to 7-2. However, Brazil steadily closed the gap, with Nathalie Filomena’s serves causing two critical Canadian errors to tie the score at 16-all. Brazil seized the momentum, and a series of focused plays led them to secure the first set 25-18.

In the second set, Brazil initially led, but Canada responded quickly, levelling the score. Despite this, Canada lost their rhythm, allowing Brazil to stretch the lead to 11-3, courtesy of Suellen Cristine Dellangelica Lima’s strong attack. Canada fought back to bring the score to 19-17, but Brazil’s resilience saw them close the set at 25-19, with Janaina Petit Cunha delivering the final blow.

The third set opened with an ace from Suellen, and despite a brief rally from Canada, Brazil maintained their control. They led 10-5 early on, and despite Canada narrowing the gap to 19-17, Brazil held their nerve. Petit’s block and powerful hits extended the lead to 22-18. Heidi Peters’ errors in crucial moments allowed Brazil to reach match point at 24-20. Canada saved one point but ultimately conceded the match at 25-21 when Peters served wide.
