Bruins Sweep Huskies Behind Historic Third Set

LOS ANGELES – Audrey Pak recorded a career-high four kills, 33 assists and three aces to lead the UCLA women’s volleyball team to a three-set win against Washington at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Friday night.
 
Set scores were 25-18, 25-16 and 38-36.
 
The Bruins (11-8, 3-6) staved off nine Husky set points in a thrilling third frame in extra points, 38-36. The 38 points were UCLA’s most ever in a set in program history regardless of any scoring era. That stretch of extra points featured seven service errors between the two squads. UCLA capitalized on its fifth match point which resulted in a setting error Washington’s Kierstyn Barton.
 
What brought match point to the line was an Anna Dodson kill assisted by Pak. Dodson had just one kill under her belt up until set three, but with the Bruins trailing 15-10 in the third, Pak relied on the 6-foot, 4-inch middle blocker for back-to-back kills. Dodson got up for the second kill and slammed it home right at the 10-foot line.
 
Iman Ndiaye led the team with 14 kills and a .481 hitting percentage, tying her season-high number of kills in a three-set match. Outside hitter Cheridyn Leverette recorded 13 kills and a career-high .462 hitting percentage. The attacking duo had just one error apiece.
 
The Huskies (13-7, 4-5) were plagued by 17 service errors and 18 attacking errors.
