Bruins Swept by No. 23 Sun Devils

TEMPE, Ariz. – The UCLA women’s volleyball team lost in straight sets to No. 23 Arizona State at Mullett Arena Sunday afternoon.
 
Set scores were 20-25, 15-25 and 22-25.
 
Outside hitter Grayce Olson led the Bruins (9-7, 1-5) with eight kills while middle blocker Anna Dodson added 9.0 points on five kills and five blocks.
 
Sun Devil (17-1, 5-1) outside hitters Marta Levinska and Roberta Rabelo both reached double-figure kills with 14 and 10, respectively. Middle blocker Claire Jeter put up a match-high seven blocks.
 
UCLA hit a collective .066 with 32 kills in the match and was in the negative in the final two sets. The Bruins held a lead only once past the fifth point of a set when they gained a 9-8 advantage in set three thanks to two kills by Olson and a block by Desiree Becker and Audrey Pak.
 
Pak earned the start at setter and tallied a team-high 19 assists. Mokihana Tufono, who started her first matches as a Bruin at libero this weekend, led UCLA with 16 digs today.
 
UCLA is back on the road next week for two matches in the Bay Area. The Bruins begin the weekend in Berkeley, Calif. to take on California at 7 p.m. (PT) in Haas Pavilion. The match is available for viewing on the Pac-12 Networks.
