TEMPE – Sun Devil Beach Volleyball has a busy start to November with two pairs heading to the AVCA Pairs National Championships in Alabama Friday through Sunday, the Lopes Fall Invitational at Grand Canyon on Saturday and Sunday, and Samaya Morin playing with USA Volleyball at the FIVB U21 Beach World Championships in Thailand November 8-12.
The AVCA Pairs National Championship will take place November 3-5 in Huntsville, Alabama. Arizona State will be sending two pairs in Daniella Kensinger and Ava Williamson along with Taryn Ames and Lexi Sweeney to compete against the top pairs from around the country. The Sun Devils earned an extra bid after Kensinger and Morin won the top bracket at the Huntington Beach qualifier tournament last weekend. The women’s competition features 64 pairs from 40 NCAA Division I and II beach programs across the United States.
At the Lopes Fall Invitational this Saturday and Sunday, ASU will be facing pairs from Arizona, Boise State and GCU. The remainder of the team will be at this tournament. This will be the final fall tournament for the team, a final opportunity to try out pairs against other teams before the regular season.
Lastly, Samaya Morin will be heading to Roi-Et, Thailand to represent the U.S. in the 2023 FIVB U21 Beach World Championships from November 8-12. In June, Morin and her partner Taylor Wilson of Stanford won the 2023 USA Volleyball U21 FIVB Beach World Championship Trials to qualify for the 2023 FIVB U21 Beach World Championships. Before ASU, Morin spent her first two seasons at Grand Canyon where she was a two-year starter and helped the team to two-straight NCAA Tournament appearances and top-10 finishes.
