Card Wins Sixth Top-10 Match


STANFORD, Calif. – After dropping the first set, No. 5 Stanford bounced back to defeat No. 9 Washington State, 21-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-23, Friday, at Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (19-3, 12-1 Pac-12) now boasts six top-10 wins this season and maintains a two-match lead in the Pac-12 standings over No. 7 Oregon and No. 15 Arizona State.

Middle blocker Sami Francis led Stanford with a .476 attack percentage, tallying a season-high 12 kills to go with five blocks. Outside hitter Elia Rubin finished with a team-high 18 kills, six digs, four blocks and an ace.


As a team, Stanford out hit Washington State, .287 to .228. The Cardinal held a 50-44 advantage in digs and finished with 65 kills, 11.5 blocks and five aces.

Setter Kami Miner controlled the offense with 56 assists and added 10 digs, four blocks, two aces and two kills for her eighth double-double of the year. Libero Elena Oglivie collected a match-high 15 digs and notched five assists.


Opposite Kendall Kipp turned in 16 kills, nine digs, a block and an ace for the Cardinal, while outside hitter Caitie Baird registered 13 kills, six digs, three blocks, two assists and an ace. Middle blocker McKenna Vicini posted a team-high six…
