STANFORD, Calif. – A career hitting night by Sami Francis powered No. 6 Stanford in a 25-14, 25-18, 25-15 win over Clemson, Friday, at Maples Pavilion.
Stanford (18-4, 10-3 ACC) hit .412 as a team while holding Clemson (8-16, 0-13 ACC) to a .177 clip. The Cardinal, which had eight aces and 5.0 blocks, held a 50-27 advantage in kills and out dug the Tigers 52-35.
Francis hit a career-best .706 with a match-high 13 kills on 17 swings with just one miscue. The senior also had a match-best five blocks. Outside hitter Ipar Kurt added 11 kills on .385 hitting, four digs, a block and an ace.
The Cardinal improved to 8-0 at home this season, and is 93-12 at Maples Pavilion under Montag Family Director of Women’s Volleyball Kevin Hambly.
Setter Kami Miner turned in her team-leading 12th double-double of the season with 42 assists and 10 digs. The senior also registered two blocks and an ace. Libero Elena Oglivie collected a match-high 16 digs to go with five assists and two aces.
Opposite Jordyn Harvey posted 10 kills on a .318 attack percentage, a career-high eight digs, three aces and two blocks. Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew matched her career-best with eight kills on .545 hitting, while Elia Rubin chipped in with eight kills and 11 digs.
Clemson was led by Azyah Dailey and Mia McGrath, who combined for 15 of the Tigers’ 27 kills. Friday marked the first meeting between Clemson and Stanford.
