TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona extended its win streak to five games with a four-set victory (25-13, 23-25, 25-22, 25-18) over Iowa State on Saturday.
Jordan Wilson and Jaelyn Hodge tallied double-digit kills to lead Arizona’s offense. Wilson had 15 kills and 10 digs while Hodge had 14 kills and the game-winning kill to close out her senior day.
Arizona’s defense tallied eight blocks to hold Iowa State to a .163 hitting percentage. Alayna Johnson led the way with six blocks and Wilson followed with four blocks.
The Cats won the first set, 25-13, to take a 1-0 lead. Arizona’s offense hit .367 while defense limited ISU to a .061 hitting percentage. Hodge led the Cats to the first-set victory with five kills and Wilson added for kills.
Iowa State won the second set, 25-23, to tie the match. Although Arizona had two blocks, the Cyclones served four aces and held the Cats to a .205 clip to win the set. Carlie Cisneros recorded five kills while Johnson and Wilson both had three kills but it wasn’t enough for the Cats.
Arizona won the third set, 25-22, to take a 2-1 lead. The Cats edged out the Cyclones with a .178 hitting percentage compared to Iowa State’s .171 hitting percentage. Wilson led Arizona to the third-set win with five kills. Johnson and Kiari Robey both had three kills to help Arizona win the set.
