CAVA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING DISCUSSES 2023 CAVA CALENDAR

Following the recent release of the AVC Calendar, the Central Asian Volleyball Association Executive Committee held its meeting on Zoom on December 4 to discuss and master the effective 2023 CAVA Calendar management.

CAVA President Mr Mohamed Latheef from Maldives presided over the Monday’s meeting, with other Executive Committee Members comprising CAVA Vice President Dr Mohammad Reza Davarzani from Iran, CAVA Treasurer Mr Jitendra Bahadur Chand from Nepal, CAVA Secretary General Mr Kylych Sarbaghyshev from Kyrgyzstan and Mr Yemek Syrlybayev from Kazakhstan in attendance.

In his opening remark, Mr Latheef said that CAVA was very proud to see the recent 2022 Engro Central Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, known as the CAVA Volleyball Nations League, come to a successful close in Lahore, Pakistan. The credit of such a great success went to the excellent organisation of the host country and Mr Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, President of Pakistan Volleyball Federation, in particular.

Also, he appreciated the cooperation of Iran for providing experts assistance as the Technical and VIS Delegates, and the other participating members whose teams took part In the aforementioned tournament as contribution to CAVA.

The CAVA President was also very confident that Executive Committee Members would render their fullest support and assistance for all upcoming events in 2023.

“The successful competitions are paving ways to uplift the level of athletes and officials. We should always try to get the slightest chance possible for the athletes and officials. A consistent Activity Calendar is key to attract more spectators and sponsors,” Mr Latheef was quoted as saying in his speech.

During the meeting, Dr Davarzani stressed on following the AVC Calendar while respecting timeline for the national season not to overlap the club period. The CAVA Calendar is to be regarded as the pre-stage to prepare Central Zone National Federations for AVC competitions.

Mr Yemek while supporting the Dr Davarzani’s point of view stated that the CAVA Calendar should be aligned with AVC in terms of the age groups and better to include U16 as to reinforce the capabilities of the young generations.

Mr Jitendra assured all of his support to host an event in the Central Zone, while CAVA Secretary General Mr Kylych also expressed his willingness to hold an event in the upcoming year.
