Celebrate the 2023 volleyball season


MADISON, Wis. – Join the Wisconsin volleyball team for its annual Awards Banquet on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024. Fans are invited to join the Badgers as they celebrate the 2023 season.

For the sixth time in program history and the fourth time in the last five seasons, Wisconsin wrapped up the season with an appearance in the NCAA National Semifinals. The Badgers won 30 matches for the eighth time in program history, finishing the year 30-4 overall. Wisconsin also finished second in the Big Ten standings, its  ninth time in the last 11 years that UW has finished third or better in the conference. 

Wisconsin ended the season ranked third in the AVCA Top-25 Coaches poll, its eighth time in the last 11 years that UW ends the season ranked in the top five. The Badgers have ended the last 11 seasons ranked in the top 12.

Senior Sarah Franklin was named the AVCA National Player of the Year, the second Badger to earn the national award. The 6-foot-4 outside hitter was also named the AVCA Northeast Region and Big Ten Player of the Year.  She led the Badgers with 4.15 kills per set, tallying double-figure kills in 29 matches. Four Badgers were named AVCA All-Americans. Franklin earned first-team honors, becoming just the fifth Badger to earn a first-team award. Junior Anna Smrek earns her first All-America honor, being recognized on the second team. Sophomore Carter Booth also becomes a first-time All-American with her third-team honor.  Senior Devyn Robinson was named to the honorable mention team this season.
