Chicoine, Colvin, Hudson Named to U21 Pan American Cup Roster

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Three Boilermakers were selected by USA Volleyball for the 2023 Women’s U21 NORCECA Pan American Cup roster. Freshman Chloe Chicoine, junior Raven Colvin and sophomore Eva Hudson will join the 18-player roster at the Anaheim National Training Center later this month.

Following the team’s training from May 14-21, 12 players will be chosen to go on and compete at the NORCECA Pan American Cup, taking place May 23-28 in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico.

Chicoine and Colvin were both members of last year’s Pan American Cup, which one gold, while it will be Hudson’s first invite.

Purdue not only leads the Big Ten with its three selected athletes, but ties as the most in the nation (joined by Florida).

In Hudson’s first year on the collegiate scene, she became the first freshman in program history to receive an All-America nod. The full-rotation outside hitter was also named All-Big Ten First Team and Big Ten Freshman of the Year after leading the league in kills (503) and points (570.5).

Colvin received AVCA Northeast Region and All-Big Ten Second Team accolades for her sophomore season and closed the year ranked sixth in the nation in total blocks (173). Not only did Colvin set the Big Ten rally-scoring era record with 16 blocks in a single match, the middle blocker ranks second in Purdue history for block assists in a single season.

Chicoine, a freshman, was named the Best Spiker at the Pan Am Cup last year, playing a critical role in USA’s gold medal. The outside hitter will be a freshman this fall after being ranked the No. 1 recruit in the nation by PrepVolleyball. Over her high school career, Chicoine averaged a .436 attack %. Her awards include AVCA First Team All-America, Under Armour High School All-America, Gatorade Player of the Year in Indiana for the second consecutive year.
