Manama, Bahrain, July 30, 2024 – China posted an epic tie-break 22-25, 25-23, 14-25, 25-22, 15-13) win against Iran on Tuesday in a high-octane Pool C encounter in the 15th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship at Isa Sport City Hall C here.
The two volleyball giants squared off in the game for the right to claim the top spot in their group, and it was hotly contested from the opening serve.
The Chinese came away with their third victory in as many outings to stay undefeated heading into the main round, while the Iranians were handed their first loss.
Yu Xiang and Li Xuyang were the top performers for China, finishing with 18 and 17 points respectively. Noureyni Amir Naderi scored 23 to lead Iran, while Mohammad Amin Rahimi added 22.
Both teams are through to the Elite Eight, where they will be playing in Pool E. Action in that phase begins on Thursday.
