Urmia, Iran, August 23, 2023 – Japan continued their unbeaten streak after convincing straight-set 25-14, 25-14, 25-17 win against Bahrain at the 222nd Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship to directly move up to the semifinals.
Japan, which picked up the silver medal at the previous edition in Japan in the last edition, beat Bahrain in an easy battle to qualify as the first semifinalist. Their determined efforts were fruitful as the Bahraini game was error-filled.
Bahrain tried hard to maintain their poise, but found the rivals too hot to handle, going down in the first set in a lopsided battle 25-14.
The fired-up Japanese remained irresistible in the next two sets as they performed superbly with impenetrable defence, solid blocks and powerful attacks to capture both sets 25-14, 25-17 and match.
Ran Takahashi chipped in with 12 points from 9 attacks and 3 serves for Japan, while Ali Ebrahim led Bahrain with 11 points.
