Long and Devan Taylor added additional points off of aces en route to Clemson taking the first set, 25-23.
North Carolina responded in the second set hitting .367 with 15 kills and four aces. The Tigers responded as Becca Micelle added an ace of her own, and Clark added three more kills to her total and a solo block. Despite the Tigers battling, the Tar Heels took set two, 25-17. North Carolina carried its momentum from the second set into the third to take the third set, 25-14.
The Tigers looked to even the score in the fourth after McGrath, Hannah and Jacyn Bamis strung together early kills. The Clemson offense continued to put the pressure on North Carolina that included Hannah tallying seven kills and McGrath adding five, but it wasn’t enough as the Tar Heels took the fourth set, 25-21, to win the match.
