Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, September 27, 2024 – Japan’s NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki and Vietnam’s LPBank Ninh Binh booked their tickets to the finale of the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship as they defeated respective opponents during the semifinals on Friday in the host city’s famed Chartchai Hall.
NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki were first to confirm their finals appearance after defeating home team Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC in a tough decider, 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-17, 25-19, 15-10). Yoshino Sato carried the team in clutch plays in their staging of a reverse sweep, contributing 25 big points. Onuma Sittirak scored 20 points in the defeat.
Later, Vietnam’s LPBank Ninh Binh punched their finale ticket, winning over Kazakhstan’s Kuanysh VC 3-1 (25-23, 27-25, 18-25, 25-22). Captain Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen scored a total of 35 points, tallying the tournament’s highest output to date.
Vietnam’s Duc Giang Chemical swept Iran’s Saipa Club 3-0 (25-16, 25-11, 27-25) in the 5th-8th semifinals. Elena Samoilenko scored 20 points, from 16 attacks and 4 stuff blocks. Tran Thu Linh and Tran Thi Bich Thuy likewise supported with double-digit markers, posting 13 points and 11 points respectively.
Later, the Philippines’ Monolith Sky Risers defeated Hong Kong, China’s Kwai Tsing 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-22) to complete the contenders for the fifth place. Captain Mhicaela Belen delivered leadership and consistent play, contributing 16 points in the victory.
The finals for 5th-8th places are scheduled for Saturday, with the medal matches happening on Sunday.
As the two highest-ranked teams after the semifinals, NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki and LPBank Ninh Binh have now qualified as the AVC representatives for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship, to be held in China from December 16-22, 2024.
