CLUBS FROM KAZAKHSTAN, VIETNAM, THAILAND, JAPAN PUNCH FINAL FOUR TICKETS IN KORAT MEET

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, September 26, 2024 – Kuanysh VC (KAZ), LPBank Ninh Binh (VIE), Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC (THA), NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki (JPN) are the final four teams to remain in contention of the title at the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship. Each won against respective opponents in Thursday’s quarterfinals proceedings at the Chartchai Hall in the city lovingly called Korat. 

Kazakhstan’s Kuanysh VC were first to confirm their semifinal berth, via a 3-1 match (24-26, 25-15, 25-18, 25-12) over Iran’s Saipa Club. Sana Anarkulova and captain Yulia Dymar emerged as the top scorers, contributing 24 points and 17 points respectively. 

LPBank Ninh Binh bested the other Vietnam club Duc Giang Chemical, following a straight-sets victory, 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-18). Captain Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen continued to be the driving force for the team, posting a match-high 25 points, as one of this competition’s leading scorers. 

Home team Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC outlasted the Philippines’ Monolith Sky Risers in the decider, 3-2 (25-13, 25-21, 20-25, 22-25, 15-5), to take the third semis slot up for grabs on Thursday. Sasipapron Janthawisut delivered 25 points for the hosts, while Alyssa Jae Solomon scored 22 points in the defeat. 

Last to punch their semis ticket were Japan’s NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki after winning against Hong Kong, China’s Kwai Tsing 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-11). Head coach Kaneko Takayuki fielded in Haruko Sasaki and Ai Hirota as his main hitters who delivered 15 points and 11 points respectively. Middle blocker Moeka Kinoe added 12 more markers in the victory. 

As the final four teams in the competition, Kuanysh VC, LPBank Ninh Binh, Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC and NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki will fight for the two available slots to represent AVC in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship, to be held in China from  December 16-22,  2024.
