COACHES SHARE PERSPECTIVES ON TEAMS’ PREPARATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS IN ASIAN WOMEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP IN VINH PHUC

Vinh Phuc, Vietnam, April 23, 2023 – Intense encounters and unforeseen challenges await all 9 teams participating in the 2023 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship between April 25 and May 2 at the 3,000-seater Vinh Phuc Gymnasium here, as coaches shared their points of view on teams’ preparations and expectations in this continent’s topflight club tournament.

As no official press conference is held for the eight-day championship, the brief interviews with team officials had been conducted in the Preliminary Inquiry on Sunday at the Volleyball Office on the first floor of the DIC Star Hotels & Resorts, the official hotel for all participating teams and officials during their stay in Vinh Phuc.

Hong Kong, China’s Hip Hing VC team head coach Wong Suk Yee

“We trained well in preparation for this tournament and watched videos of some teams we have to take on in our pool. We have three players who joined the Hong Kong, China national team to win the 3rd AVC Women’s Challenge Cup in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand last year. Our first match in this championship will be against Thailand’s Diamond Food Fine Chef Sport Club. I think we can learn from the strong teams like the Thai team. However, I hope that at the end of the tournament we can bring good things including valuable experience back to Hong Kong.”

Vietnam’s Sport Center 1 assistant coach Nguyen Trong Linh

“My team trained well because we are preparing for the Asian Women’s Club Championship in Vinh Phuc and the next month’s SEA Games. We will try our best.”

Chinese Taipei’s King Whale Taipei team head coach Teng Yen Min

“Actually, we finished our competition TVL in Chinese Taipei at the end of March and we’re now about like to continue our game in the other competition. Of course, our goal is to win Pool A and try to get the top four. Our first match will be against Japan’s Hisamitsu Springs and I think it must be a very exciting match.”

Kazakhstan’s Altay VC team head coach Mr Yury Panchenko

“We had only two weeks after our final in the Championship of Kazakhstan and that’s a big problem for my players in terms of their physical conditions. After a long season, it’s always a problem to prepare our team. The other teams will be good experience for our players, not for all the players, but it’s very important for our young players. This tournament will give us a good chance for our team. I think it’s a very difficult competition here…
