Colyer Adds Eighth, Ninth Weekly Honors


EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon outside hitter Mimi Colyer has been named the Pac-12 Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week. In collecting both, she extends her record to eight freshman selections and is now the fourth player in conference history to win both awards in the same week, and first since the 2016 season.
 
Colyer joins Samantha Bricio (USC, 2012), Audriana Fitzmorris (Stanford, 2016) and Kathryn Plummer (Stanford, 2016) on the exclusive list of Pac-12 players to be honored with both in the same week.
 
The Ducks posted a pair of thrilling, five-set victories at Matthew Knight Arena this past weekend with wins over UCLA and USC. Oregon is now 21-5 overall this season with a 15-3 mark in conference play. The team is up to a season-high No. 10 ranking in both the AVCA Top 25 and NCAA RPI.
 
Colyer generated 5.50 points per set, 4.60 kills per set while hitting .365 and 2.30 digs per set against UCLA and USC. With her standout weekend, Colyer is up to 4.89 points per set which is currently ranks third in the Pac-12 and tops among freshmen in the NCAA.
 
The Lincoln, Calif., native posted her 10th double-double of the year with 17 kills and a career-high 19 digs, and accounted for two blocks and two aces in the Ducks’ win over UCLA. With Oregon facing a 2-1 match deficit, Colyer had seven of her 17 kills—while hitting .429—over the finals two sets.
 
In the weekend finale, Colyer put down a career-high and Pac-12 leading 29 kills coupled with a .463 hitting percentage in a reverse sweep of USC. She posted 18 of those 29 kills over the final three sets during the UO comeback. She also chipped in four blocks, four aces and four digs against the Trojans.
 
Collectively, the Ducks hit .429 over the five setter against USC, the team’s 15th match with a .300 or higher hitting percentage and sixth with a .400 or better mark. Hannah Pukis tied her career high with 62 assists, getting big offensive outings from Colyer, Brooke Nuneviller (19 kills/.421), Karson Bacon (nine kills/.643) and Gloria Mutiri (seven kills/.353).
 
Monday’s selection also marks the third Offensive Player of the Week for the Ducks this season with previous honors for Nuneviller (Aug. 30) and Pukis (Sept. 19).
 
The Ducks open the final week of the regular season Wednesday afternoon at Cal before returning to Matthew Knight Arena on Friday for Senior Day against Oregon State. The NCAA Selection Show is set for Sunday, Nov. 27, at 4:30 p.m. (PT) on ESPNU. Click
