EUGENE, Ore. – Mimi Colyer and Hannah Pukis have been named to the Preseason All-Pac-12 Team as announced Monday morning by the league office. Oregon, the No. 9 team in the AVCA preseason poll, starts the season Aug. 25-27 at the Wahine Classic in Honolulu against No. 13 San Diego, Northwestern and host Hawaii.
The Ducks also received one first-place vote and sit in third place in the Pac-12 preseason rankings. The preseason team and poll were voted on by the conference’s head coaches.
Colyer is the reigning AVCA National Freshman of the Year—the first in program history—and earned a spot on the All-America Third Team. She was also Pac-12 and AVCA Pacific North Freshman of the Year after posting 616.5 points and 533 kills, ranking 10th and 11th in the nation overall, respectively.
The Lincoln, Calif., native set a conference record with eight Pac-12 Freshman of the Week selections. Colyer was fourth in the Pac-12 with 4.85 points her set and fifth in the league with 4.20 kills per set, all while hitting .265 in her first collegiate season. She also recorded a team-leading 40 aces and averaged 2.01 digs per set on the way to 12 double-doubles.
Pukis, in her first season at Oregon, was named an AVCA All-America Second Team performer, the third setter in program history to collect All-America accolades. She established a new career high with 11.18 assists per set, good for second in the Pac-12 and 10th in the NCAA. Pukis also helped direct Oregon to a school-record .293 hitting percentage.
The Tacoma, Wash., native was third on the team with 2.66 digs per set and had 14 double-doubles in 2022. In the Ducks’ Sweet 16 match against Nebraska, Pukis registered 57 assists, 20 digs, six kills and two service aces in the five-set victory.
The Ducks will spend the entirety of their non-conference slate on the road before their Pac-12 opener Friday, Sept. 22, against Oregon State at Matthew Knight Arena.
