Four SUNY Cortland women’s volleyball players have been named to 2024 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region 3 team, with three of those players – senior outside hitter Anna Pilkey (Ballston Spa), senior middle blocker Alexa Guedez (Mamaroneck/Rye Neck) and senior defensive specialist/libero Mikenzie Martens (Carthage) – also being named honorable mention All-Americans by virtue of being selected to the all-region first team.
Junior middle blocker Emma Reilly (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) was an honorable mention all-region selection and Cortland head coach Erin Glickert was honored as the AVCA Region 3 Coach of the Year.
Guedez earned first team all-region and honorable mention All-America honors for the third straight year, while Pilkey and Martens both were repeat winners of those awards.
Pilkey played in 94 sets over 32 matches and finished the season with 279 kills, a .233 attack percentage, 44 aces, 231 digs and 32 blocks. She wraps up her Red Dragon career with 649 kills, 85 aces, 596 digs and 80 blocks.
Guedez, in addition to her three first-team all-region awards, also was honorable mention all-region as a freshman in 2021. This season, she played in 94 sets over 31 matches and registered 207 kills, 104 blocks and a .324 attack percentage. During her four years as a Red Dragon she totaled 724 kills, a .313 attack percentage, 51 aces and 401 blocks. She’s the eighth player in school history to reach the career 400-block mark.
Martens played in 102 sets of Cortland’s 103 sets this fall and recorded 517 digs, a .970 serve reception percentage and 39 aces. She closes her career with 1,404 digs and 105 aces.
Reilly previously was AVCA Region 3 Freshman of the Year in 2022. This season, she played in 78 sets over 29 matches and had 89 blocks, 114 kills and a .388 attack percentage. In three years, Reilly has totaled 249 kills and 198 blocks.
Glickert earned Region 3 Coach of the Year honors for the second time; she also won the award in 2021. This fall, she led the Red Dragons to a 26-6 overall record and the program’s fourth straight SUNYAC title and NCAA tournament berth. Cortland finished 9-0 in the SUNYAC regular…
